Conceptual Framework
Based on Sa'ah Naagháí Bi'keh Hózhóón the Center for Diné Studies' conceptual framework for assessment program is to enhance student learning, personal development and ongoing improvement.
Procedures
The assessment procedures for Center for Diné Studies program consist of analysis of course syllabi, student portfolios, standardized Pre and Post test questionnaires, critical and intensive writing samples and survey of graduate career and academic follow up. The data will be collected by Center for Diné Studies, Chair for analysis and presented to the Division annually for refining for improvement.
Course Syllabi:Instructors will submit course syllabus each semester to determine the relationships between course content, program goals and program expectations.
Student Portfolios:
Students in the Navajo Language Program develop a portfolio each semester that is to reflect the student's unique learning experiences, goals, philosophy, and these are measured against the goals and program expectations.
Standardized Pre and Post Test Questionnaires:
Students take a standardized pre test to determine the baseline of student knowledge at the beginning and take a post test to measure the learning outcome of students at the end of the semester for program assessment.
Critical and Intensive Writing Samples:
Students take a critical and intensive writing essay focusing on Navajo Cultural values at the beginning of each semester and retake the writing at the end of each semester for program assessment.
Survey of graduates: Graduate survey on an annual basis to determine feed back on their career and academic progress for program assessment.
The Center for Diné Studies Program implement its program mission, goals, objectives and assessment procedures in the spirit of collegiality, professionalism and one campus college concept.
