What is the Diné College E-mail system?
Diné College uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 for its e-mail systems. This means your e-mail is stored on a central server at the College's Main Campus.
Users have a limit of 1Gb of mailbox space each.
Common mail-clients are OWA for web-based access and Outlook for office computers.
What is an out of the office notification?
If you plan to be out of the office or away from a computer for an extended time period, you may want to create an "Out of the Office" message or auto-responder. This will automatically send a custom message from your account letting people know that you will not be reading your e-mail for a designated period of time.
Each person writing to you will receive the message only once.
For instructions on how to set up your Out of the Office notification please see:
How do I stop spam and adjust spam and virus filter settings?
Barracuda is the spam filtering service that Diné College uses. When you receive e-mail you will sometimes find the prefix [QUAR] in the subject line. These are messages that would be Quarantined for you by Barracuda IF you set up quarantine for your individual account. In other words they are e-mails that Barracuda thinks are likely SPAM mail. For those that are comfortable choosing their own settings for filtering, please go to: http://ms2.tcnoc.com
You will be asked to enter your e-mail address and a password. The password will be slightly modified and sent to your e-mail address. At which point you'll be able to log into your own spam filtering system. (Once you log in you can change your password back to the one of your choice).
By default no messages are quarantined on Barracuda, they are just labeled as [QUAR].
Under the “PREFERENCES” tab select “Quarantine Settings” and follow the on-screen instructions. The system will quarantine messages (that is, set them aside for you to review and decide if they are SPAM or not), a notification system will tell you if messages are being held for your review (ie. Quarantined).
White List/Black List These settings will allow you to always allow e-mails from a certain address to be delivered to you (White List) or always deny delivery to your e-mail box of certain addresses (black list).

Remember: for Barracuda your user name is your full e-mail address!
What Is WebCT?
WebCT is an on-line learning and teaching tool. At Diné College, WebCT is used both as a means of teaching completely on-line (you never attend class in a classroom you just log onto the Web-based learning tool) and as a supplement to face-to-face classes (the instructor uses the on-line tool for handouts and assignments but you still attend class in a classroom).

What phone systems does Diné College use?
At Diné College we use AVAYA PBX G5 systems which are physically located at Tsaile and Shiprock campuses. The two PBXs are connected via a dedicated T1 line. We have also implemented a Cisco Call Manager at Shiprock South Campus which is integrated with the AVAYA system to allow seamless calling between systems. The community Campuses have Keys Systems which again, communicate with the AVAYA G5.
VoIP (Voice over IP) is implemented across all Diné College locations, this means that calls between campuses and centers are not billed as long-distance but rather as "internal" calls through 4-digit dialing.

All college computers should have Navajo Fonts installed by default. Should yours not have them please contact the IT department.
If you are trying to install the fonts on your own computer:

You need to put the fonts in your User Library Font folder (not the computer font folder). To get to it, go to your home folder and from there find the "Library" folder and in it, the "Font" folder.
Once the fonts are installed you will use 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,-,=, and [ & ] for the special vowels the / l is [
the high-tone n is ]
Only set back of these fonts, you have to switch back and forth if you have numbers in your document.
