My name is Fray Gray and I am from Many Farms, Arizona in which I have lived for the past 40 years. I have attended Arizona State University, Mesa Community College and Diné College in which I have received Certification in Emergency Medical Technician and my Associates degree in Elem. Education. I am currently a Level 3 certified Archery instructor, regional level Judge certified and currently have been the head archery coach for Diné College for the past 3 years. I was Assistant Archery Coach for approximately 2 years before that at Diné College. Currently Anthony Goldooth and myself strive to make the Diné College Archery team a successful program from its continuing success in the past years.
As a coach it is our job to find the skill that everyone has yet to realize in any sport they want to pursue. We have to coach them in a short period of time in order for them to compete at that much higher level throughout the country. We have competed as far away as Harrisonburg, VA. back to the West coast in California. I have found that our archers have been consisted in their studies as well as dedicating themselves toward improving in the sport of archery. We have a turnover of approximately 80% every year and have to train new potential archers some of which never have pulled a bow or shot one arrow in their life.
Fortunately we have had some success in our tenure as coaches with 3 Academic All-Americans, 2 Rookie of the year, 1 All-American and A first ever Female Compound National Championship team in which we beat Texas A & M for the title. We have maintained a high expectation for every team from year to year and thus far have not been disappointed. Please come by if you are interested and let’s see if you have the potential we are looking for and help you capitalize on your unrealized potential here at Diné College.
