I have come to Dine’ College with high expectations for this program. With 7 National Titles on the Men’s side and 1 on the Women’s in the past decade, Dine’ College has a long history of success. I’m looking for athletes who are willing to commit themselves both academically and athletically—those who strive to improve themselves as runners and as people. I believe that we each have a responsibility to strengthen our families, our communities, and the world. Competitive distance running at the collegiate level can help provide you the discipline, commitment, and drive to succeed in aspects of your life.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where I was a runner and multi-sport athlete all of my life. I earned my Bachelors degree from DePaul University and my Masters from Stanford University. I am both a coach and a runner, and I train daily with the team as a fellow athlete. I also continue to race competitively in distances ranging from the mile to the marathon.
Since 2002 I’ve been working with Native runners here in the Southwest as they develop their talents over hills, along trails, and in the classroom. From 2002 to 2008 I worked with a talented group of runners at Navajo Pine High School in Northwest New Mexico. On the girls side, our Lady Warriors finished 2nd at the New Mexico State Meet in 2005. They then ascended to the top of the podium in both 2006 and 2007, winning back to back state titles—a first in Navajo Pine’s history. Our boys team was referred to as a “small school dynasty in the Southwest” after winning back to back to back New Mexico State Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
