TSAILE, AZ — Diné College is proud to announce the outstanding achievements of two Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Graphic Design students, Rowena W. and Scott Tom, whose exceptional artistic talents have been recognized in prestigious competitions.

Rowena W., a dedicated BFA Graphic Design major, recently earned acclaim for her submission to the Los Angeles Photography Awards. Her captivating photo, entered in the Open Theme category, stood out among the submissions, securing her a well-deserved victory. Rowena shared her journey, stating, “After entering the Indigeverse, I decided to take a chance and enter another competition, The Los Angeles Photography Awards. To my surprise, my photo was selected as the winner in the Open Theme category.” This accomplishment not only highlights Rowena’s individual talent but also reflects the high caliber of education and mentorship provided by the Graphic Design program at Diné College.

The second distinguished student, Scott Tom, also a BFA Graphic Design major, emerged victorious in the National Urban Indian Family Coalition Democracy is Indigenous Call for Artists contest. His winning submission will take a prominent place as one of the leading pieces of artwork the organization plans to showcase in 2024. Scott’s success not only reflects his artistic brilliance but also emphasizes the capacity of graphic design to contribute meaningfully to societal dialogues and causes.
