Certificate Navajo Cultural Arts

The Certificate in Navajo Cultural Arts will enhance and revitalize authentic practices and provide opportunities for Navajo master artisans and “knowledge holders” to share their unique skills with the emerging young generation of artists (participants will be selected on a cohort basis).

NOTE: Student is eligible for Title IV Financial Aid in this certificate program.

Certificate Program in Navajo Cultural Arts

PROGRAM MISSION

 

To increase the intergenerational transference of knowledge of Navajo artistic and cultural practices in order to sustain Native artistic and cultural heritage within Navajo communities.

PROGRAM GOALS

 

The Navajo Cultural Arts Program (NCAP) participants, including students in the Navajo Cultural Arts Certificate Program (NCAC) will have the opportunity: (1) to acquire and engage traditional understandings of Navajo cultural arts, (2) demonstrate their techniques to local and regional community members, (3) explore a variety of Native American artisan marketing opportunities, and (4) create multigenerational Navajo artisan community bonds.

NCAC Program Student Learning Objectives

 

1) SWBAT demonstrate increased technical skills in their designated emphasis area.
2) SWBAT demonstrate Navajo socio-cultural targeted knowledge of their designated emphasis area.
