Eligibility for Financial Aid

Financial Aid requirements you must meet to receive aid at Diné College.

To be eligible for federal financial aid, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using Dine College’s school code 008246
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be admitted and enrolled in a degree seeking program
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • Be registered for Selective Service (if male born after December 31, 1959 and at least 18 years old)
  • Demonstrate financial need (some scholarships are available to students without need)
  • Not be in default on a prior student loan and not owe back a refund or repayment on a grant or other federal loan
  • Provide any requested documentation
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

FAFSA certification:

Upon signing the FAFSA, students certify that they:

  • will use federal and/or state student financial aid only to pay the cost of attending an institution of higher education,
  • are not in default on a federal student loan or have made satisfactory arrangements to repay it,
  • do not owe money back on a federal student grant or have made satisfactory arrangements to repay it,
  • will not receive a Federal Pell Grant from more than one college for the same period of time.

Upon signing the FAFSA, students and parents certify that all of the information they provided is true and complete to the best of their knowledge and they agree, if asked, to provide information that will verify the accuracy of their completed application. This information may include U.S. or state income tax forms that they filed or are required to file. Also, they certify that they understand that the Secretary of Education has the authority to verify information reported on the FAFSA with the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies. If they electronically sign any document related to the federal student aid programs using an FSA ID (username and password) and/or any other credential, they certify that they are the person identified by that username and password and/or other credential, and have not disclosed that username and password and/or other credential to anyone else. If they purposely give false or misleading information, they may be fined up to $20,000, sent to prison, or both.

Drug Law Violation

In accordance with federal and state laws, if you are receiving financial aid in the same semester in which you are convicted for the possession or use of a controlled substance, you will be ineligible for financial aid for a period of time related to the number of offenses committed. Refer to the chart below for an exact breakdown of ineligibility intervals.
