Bachelor of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Multicultural Education (BAEMC) at Diné College is designed to equip future educators with the skills and knowledge to teach in diverse, culturally rich environments. The program emphasizes understanding and integrating multicultural perspectives into educational practices, ensuring that graduates are prepared to foster inclusive, equitable learning experiences for all students.

PROGRAM MISSION

 

The mission of the Bachelor of Arts in Education is to prepare teacher candidates; and produce classroom teachers to be highly qualified to serve K-8 schools and communities through innovative multicultural/ bilingual/ multilingual teaching strategies and methods for diverse ethnic learners.

PROGRAM VISION

 

The Bachelor of Arts in Education envisions Teacher Candidates to become highly qualified to provide effective educational  practices necessary for K-8 students in becoming college and career ready. Teacher Candidates will ensure a productive learning environment including collaboration with all stakeholders. To advocate for educational equity and merit for all scholars, regardless of ethnicity, and eliminate barriers to educational prospects and achievements for multicultural/bilingual/multilingual/multilingual students in a global society.

PROGRAM GOALS

 

Upon successful completion of the program, teacher candidate will receive a Bachelor of Arts in education with an emphasis in Multicultural Education.  Having passed the licensure examinations, teacher candidate will be eligible for provisional K-8 teacher licensure.  Teacher Candidate will also have met the requirements for a provisional endorsement in Bilingual Education depending upon the program of study.

PSLO9: Student will use ethical, civic, intercultural reasoning, teamwork, sustainability, digital and research.
