    TSAILE, Ariz. Diné College has appointed Dr. Nonabah Sam as the Acting Dean of the School of Arts & Humanities. Dr. Sam, who has served as the Museum Curator for the Navajo Heritage Center Museum for over a decade, brings 13.5 years of experience at Diné College to her new role.

    Dr. Sam’s career at Diné College has been marked by her commitment to nurturing academic growth and cultural preservation. Her extensive experience includes curating culturally significant collections and teaching museum studies. She has been recognized for integrating traditional Navajo philosophies into her academic work, providing students with a unique and enriching educational experience.

    Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Sam shared, “It is an honor and privilege to step into this role. My vision is to continue empowering our students, not only as artists but as individuals deeply rooted in their cultural identity. I am committed to ensuring our programs blend academic excellence with the values and traditions of Navajo culture.”

    Dr. Sam’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies from the Institute of American Indian Arts and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico. Her personal and professional path has been one of resilience and dedication, serving as an inspiration for future leaders in academia.

    “I humbly thank Dr. Alysa Landry for her invaluable contributions to the School of Arts & Humanities,” Dr. Sam added. “Her leadership and insight have paved the way for continued success. I am also deeply grateful to my family and my daughter, whose support has been the foundation of this journey.”

    Dr. Sam’s appointment highlights Diné College’s dedication to academic innovation and cultural preservation, as it prepares students for success in a global society while staying rooted in Navajo traditions.
