Diné College Announces 2025 Graduation Ceremony at Shiprock South Campus

Shiprock, N.M. – Diné College will host its Spring 2025 graduation ceremony on May 9 at the Shiprock South Campus, marking a historic shift in location for the annual event. The outdoor commencement will begin at 10 a.m., and will celebrate the achievements of 135 graduates.

Former Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye will provide the commencement address. A Shiprock native, Begaye served as a Navajo Nation Council delegate from 2011 to 2015, and as president of the Navajo Nation from 2015 to 2019.

“We are confident the Shiprock location will provide a great and safe setting for this important event,” said Glennita Haskey, Acting President of Diné College. “I’m honored that Winnie Jumbo, Director of External Campus, is leading the efforts for this special occasion.”

Jumbo expressed her enthusiasm for hosting the ceremony at the Shiprock South Campus. “Our staff has been diligently working on logistics and planning to ensure this event is a success. We are grateful to the agencies assisting us and aim to provide detailed information for students, faculty, staff, and the community,” she said.

Graduates will wear regalia generously provided in collaboration with nearby state universities, underscoring the strong partnerships within the region.

“This move to Shiprock reflects our shared effort to honor our graduates and provide them with a memorable experience,” said Dr. Alysa Landry, provost. “We are excited to celebrate their accomplishments as they prepare to make an impact in the world.”
