Diné College Launches BetterMynd Telehealth Counseling Services for Students

TSAILE, Ariz., March 23, 2026. Diné College launched a new telehealth counseling services for students at the BetterMynd Marketing Launch Luncheon on Monday, March 23, 2026. The event, held at the NHC 1st Floor Lecture Room, detailed the college’s strategic partnership with BetterMynd to provide highly accessible mental health resources, including secure online counseling, wellbeing workshops, and 24/7 on-demand emotional support.
Student Mental Health Coordinator Travis Teller opened the event and outlined the limitations of previous local counseling options and the critical need for immediate student support. The college adopted the new platform to allow students to easily schedule 50-minute online video sessions with licensed mental health counselors. Students book these secure, HIPAA-compliant appointments at their convenience, including evenings and weekends.
“The reason why we implemented BetterMynd was to have that fast and quick service for students,” Teller said. “We want to actually have someone there that they could speak with if they just pick up their phone and dial that number.”
Joey Medrano, Assistant Director of Campus Success at BetterMynd, delivered a virtual presentation to demonstrate the student registration process and highlight the diverse network of licensed providers. Medrano emphasized the access enrolled students receive to both individualized counseling sessions and unlimited psychoeducational workshops. These live sessions address topics such as stress, anxiety, relationships, and the grieving process.
“We are able to allocate a number of sessions based on every unique student’s need and philosophy of care,” Medrano said. “We are working together with them to make sure we are able to create an individual care plan specifically for your needs.”
The comprehensive service also includes a dedicated 24-hour emotional support crisis line, which ensures residential and off-campus students maintain continuous access to professional help during emergencies. College administrators continue to collaborate with BetterMynd to integrate traditional Diné cultural teachings and recruit Navajo-licensed counselors into the telehealth network.
The launch event began with a traditional Diné prayer and song, which offered blessings and positive intentions for the new wellness initiative. After the presentations, students, staff, and faculty engaged with marketing materials and learned how to use the new digital mental health resources.”
