Helena Austin Joins Diné College as Learning Center Coordinator
Window Rock, Ariz. Helena Austin has been named the new Learning Center Coordinator at Diné College at Window Rock Center, bringing a strong academic background and a passion for empowering students through culturally rooted education. Austin joined the institution earlier this month to support students in achieving academic success while celebrating their cultural heritage.
“I am deeply honored to join Diné College and contribute to its important mission of promoting higher education grounded in Diné culture and community,” Austin said. “I believe that celebrating cultural identity alongside academic excellence empowers students to achieve their full potential.”
Originally from Greasewood Springs, Arizona, Austin holds an Associate of Science degree in Psychology and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. There, she majored in Psychological Science and Neuroscience while minoring in American Indian Studies. Her educational path reflects her commitment to blending academics with cultural understanding, values she plans to bring to Diné College.
Austin’s role as Learning Center Coordinator focuses on creating a supportive and engaging environment for students. She is dedicated to helping them bridge their academic pursuits with the strength of their cultural knowledge. By facilitating this balance, she aims to empower students across Diné College’s campuses to achieve their goals and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
With her extensive background and personal connection to the Navajo Nation, Austin hopes to build lasting relationships with students and faculty while furthering Diné College’s mission.
“I look forward to supporting the next generation of leaders as they achieve academic success without losing sight of their cultural heritage,” Austin added.
