    “Just Move It” Event Inspires Wellness at Diné College Crownpoint Center

    Crownpoint, NM. The Navajo Nation’s acclaimed “Just Move It” health and wellness initiative successfully brought together the Crownpoint community for an evening of activity and community spirit at the Diné College Crownpoint Center on Monday, July 14, 2025. The event was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event was a collaborative effort between Diné College and Crownpoint Indian Health Service (IHS) Unit Division of Public Health.

    The “Just Move It” event encouraged participants of all ages to engage in a non-competitive walk and run, fostering individual well-being and promoting a healthy lifestyle. 337 enthusiastic individuals took part, highlighting the community’s commitment to health. As a token of appreciation, all participants received a t-shirt, with the first 100 participants proudly sporting a custom Diné College “Just Move It” t-shirt. Fresh fruit was also provided to re-energize participants after completing the course.

    “We are incredibly happy to feature a ‘Just Move It’ event in collaboration with the local IHS Public Health Unit,” said Tyrel Pablo, Academic Success Coach. “This event not only celebrates the well-being of individuals on their wellness journey but also provides an opportunity for personal improvement through education.”

    The event was spearheaded by Tyrone Begay, Crownpoint Center Manager, Tyrel Pablo, Academic Success Coach, and Rethania Yazzie, IHS Recreation & Media Specialist. Their combined efforts ensured a well-organized and impactful evening for all attendees.

    Rethania Yazzie stated, “the ‘Just Move It’ series allows us to engage in healthy habits in a community based setting. We learn to inspire one another to maintain a positive life style. We had onsite resource booths to share insights and support for our community members, as well.”

    A significant outcome of the event was the registration of 189 new participants and the return of 148 individuals, demonstrating the growing reach and positive impact of the “Just Move It” program in Crownpoint, NM and the entire Eastern Navajo Agency. Diné College extends its sincere gratitude to the entire Crownpoint Service Unit Division of Public Health and the Office of External Campuses for their invaluable support in facilitating registration and course monitoring. This successful event brought significant exposure to the entire Diné College community.

    In closing Tyrone Begay, Crownpoint Center Manager added, “we are very thankful for everyone who came out to the event. We extend a special thank you to the Office of External Campuses for supporting these initiatives, as well as the Cultivating Native Student Success Grant from the American Indian College Fund.”
