Isaac Madson Joins KXWR 92.1 FM as New Radio Announcer, Championing Diné Voices

    Tsaile, Ariz. Isaac Madson is bringing fresh energy and original programming to the airwaves as the new Radio Announcer at KXWR 92.1 FM, the voice of Diné College. With a passion rooted in the college’s educational philosophy of Sa’ah Naagháíí Bik’eh Hózhóón, Isaac is crafting a vibrant lineup of interviews, language revitalization segments, and student-driven content that celebrates culture, sparks connection, and uplifts community voices.

    A proud Diné storyteller, Isaac is Tótsohnii (Big Water clan), born for Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water clan); his maternal grandfather is Kinłichii’nii (Red House clan), and his paternal grandfather is Naakai Dine’é (Mexican People clan). He hails from Wheatfields, AZ, and grew up in Kayenta, where he graduated from Monument Valley High School.

    Isaac earned his Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Broadcasting and Public Relations from Southern Utah University. His impressive media journey includes serving as Communications Director for the Rural Utah Project, producing award-winning podcasts and feature stories honored by the Utah Broadcasters Association, and playing a key role in Navajo Nation voter engagement efforts. His voice has reached audiences through SteamboatTV’s morning show, and he’s been featured by StoryCorps, Mashable, and AJ+.

    At Diné College, Isaac has already made his mark as the Student Activities Specialist and Book Club advisor. Now, behind the mic at KXWR, he’s on a mission to amplify intergenerational voices, celebrate cultural knowledge, and transform the station into a hub for creativity, storytelling, and tradition.

    When he’s not on the air, Isaac enjoys weaving, hiking, storytelling, and staying active in civic life. A lifelong learner at heart, he’s dedicated to growing with—and for—his community.
