Diné College Hosts “College Today, Career Tomorrow” Event

TSAILE, Ariz. Diné College’s Student Success Center has successfully hosted “College Today, Career Tomorrow,” a two-day event designed to empower and inspire students as they consider their academic and professional futures.

The event took place on July 9 and 10, 2025, at the Ned Hataałi Center(NHC building) in Tsaile, Arizona, and welcomed youth ready to transition from high school to college, as well as younger students gaining early exposure to higher education opportunities.

The workshops on the first floor ran daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering engaging sessions that guided attendees through the transition to college life. Concurrently, a college and career fair took place on the second and third floors. This fair featured 18 facilitators, including university representatives, recruiters from Fort Defiance Medical Center, and nonprofit organizations aiming to connect with prospective students.

“This event was an excellent opportunity for students to explore their potential and connect directly with organizations and institutions that can shape their futures,” said Cameo Mejia, Career Education Advisor for Diné College’s Student Success Center. “We were glad to open our doors to students, families, and the broader community as part of our commitment to education and empowerment.”

The comprehensive event emphasized not only academic pathways but also career possibilities for students and the Diné College Community. Sessions targeted key areas of interest and guidance, making the event highly accessible to students at all stages of their education. With a robust turnout, “College Today, Career Tomorrow” successfully bridged the gap between students and academic and professional opportunities.

“We wanted to provide more than just information—it was about creating connections,” Mejia added. “Whether students were exploring their options or ready to take the next step, this event gave them hands-on access to advisors and professionals.”

The Student Success Center at Diné College facilitated these opportunities as part of its broader mission of nurturing student achievement and career readiness across the Native American community.
