Diné College Crownpoint Center Ignites Community Spirit at Eastern Navajo Fair
CROWNPOINT, NM. The Diné College Crownpoint Center proudly led student ambassadors and employees in the annual Eastern Navajo Fair Parade on Saturday, August 26, 2025 captivating the crowd with their enthusiastic participation. Embracing the theme “Legends Inspire Youth,” the College distributed a variety of promotional items, including highly sought after t-shirts and water bottles, alongside candy. Participants engaged with the community and celebrated the local spirit.
The parade was a vibrant display of community interaction. Spectators eagerly participated in fun activities, with cheers erupting for t-shirt giveaways and lively dance-offs. Diné College was thrilled to use this platform to advertise upcoming registration and admission deadlines, reminding potential students that fall semester courses begin on Monday, August 18, 2025. The invaluable contributions of the student ambassadors were a highlight, providing them with a significant opportunity to connect directly with the Crownpoint community. The team’s participation was expertly coordinated by students and the Office of External Campuses.
Further extending their community engagement, the Crownpoint Center also made a strong showcasing at the Eastern Navajo Fair Youth Day on Friday, August 25, 2025. Center Manager Tyrone Begay and Academic Success Coach Tyrell Pablo hosted an interactive booth where attendees enjoyed cornhole games and received detailed information about Diné College, along with additional promotional items.
“I am very pleased with the heavy engagement with the community of Crownpoint and surrounding areas,” said Winifred Jumbo, Director of External Campuses. “Our goal is to increase the presence of Diné College to showcase the first tribally controlled college in the U.S., and we hope to see an increase in courses and opportunities over the coming years at Crownpoint Center.”
Tyrone Begay, Center Manager added, “we are very excited for the future of collaboration with community events and hope to build a great relationship with the community-base in Crownpoint, NM.”
The Office of External Campuses extends its sincere gratitude for these meaningful opportunities to engage with the community at a grassroots level. The College remains hopeful that these efforts will translate into an increased enrollment at Diné College Crownpoint Center.
