Community Gathers for 2025 Just Move It & Health Fair

Tsaile, Ariz., August 21, 2025. The 2025 “Just Move It” (JMI) & Health Fair brought together community members of all ages today at the NHC Parking Lot, celebrating health, wellness, and physical activity. The event, organized by Diné College Student Wellness Program and Chinle Indian Health Services Health Promotion & Disease Prevention program, featured a Health Fair from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by the Just Move It Fun Walk/Run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Attendees explored booths focused on mental health, self-care, and healthy living, connecting with wellness professionals and discovering resources to support their health journeys. The evening walk/run encouraged participants to get moving, meet others, and celebrate community wellness.

“This event was a success thanks to the incredible support from our volunteers, staff, and community,” said Kameica Yazzie, Diné College’s Health Education & Promotion Coordinator. “Communication was key, and it was heartwarming to see everyone come together—from custodians to security, health vendors, and my amazing team. It was truly a team effort.”

The event also welcomed special guests, including Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren, First Lady of the Navajo Nation. “It was a beautiful event with a great turnout,” she said. “Seeing families, young kids, and elders come together was uplifting and motivating. Events like this remind us of the importance of showing up—not just for our health, but in all aspects of life. I encourage students and community members to keep showing up, even when it’s hard. That discipline will take you far.”

Matthew Werito, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Specialist, echoed the sentiment. “The turnout was terrific, and everything was well-organized. We’re here to inspire people to stay active—whether it’s walking, running, or biking. Our goal is to promote healthier nations, and events like this help us achieve that goal. I’m grateful for the support from Diné College and everyone who made this happen.”

The 2025 JMI & Health Fair highlighted the power of community in supporting health and wellness. Organizers are already looking forward to next year’s event and encourage anyone interested in volunteering to reach out at 928-724-6741 or email wellness@dinecollege.edu.
