Diné College Hosts Public Speaking Workshop to Empower Students
Tsaile, Ariz., July 15, 2025. Diné College hosted a public speaking workshop on Tuesday at its Tsaile Campus, providing students with valuable tools to enhance their communication skills and boost their confidence.
Organized by the Career Education Office, the event took place in GCB 102 and saw students from various academic programs actively participate in a hands-on learning experience.
Led by Cameo Mejia, Career Education Advisor, the workshop aimed to address a common challenge among students: the fear of public speaking.
Participants learned practical strategies for preparing and delivering effective presentations, from understanding their audience to refining body language and controlling their voice. The session also emphasized personal growth, encouraging students to discover and develop their unique speaking styles.
“Public speaking is a skill that can open doors to countless opportunities, whether in academics, careers, or personal growth,” Cameo Mejia commented during the workshop. “Our goal is to help students feel more confident, prepared, and capable of expressing themselves in any setting.”
The workshop highlighted several key benefits for attendees, including improved communication techniques, audience engagement strategies, and tips on handling performance anxiety.
Through interactive exercises and discussions, participants were empowered to progress from practicing in small groups to tackling larger crowds with confidence.
Attendees also had access to visual aids and practical tools designed to make public speaking less intimidating. By the end of the session, students expressed enthusiasm about applying what they had learned in future presentations, interviews, and professional opportunities.
