Diné College Announces National Search for New President/CEO
The Board of Regents of Diné College has launched a national search for the institution’s next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a rare opportunity to lead the first tribally controlled and accredited college in the United States into its next era of growth, innovation, and cultural preservation.
Founded in 1968 by the Navajo Nation, Diné College has been a cornerstone of higher education and cultural preservation for over 50 years. As the first tribally controlled college in the U.S., it was created to provide affordable, accessible, and culturally relevant education to the Navajo people. Today, the college continues this mission by offering academic programs that blend traditional Diné knowledge with modern learning.
Located in Tsaile, Arizona, with additional campuses and microsites across Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, Diné College serves approximately 1,500 students annually. The college offers certificates, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and select graduate programs, all designed to prepare students for career success while instilling a deep understanding of Diné philosophy and values.
The next President/CEO will report to the Board of Regents and provide strategic leadership to advance the college’s mission. Responsibilities include strengthening financial health, fostering relationships with government and community stakeholders, increasing student enrollment and success, and expanding academic and workforce development programs.
This role is more than a leadership position—it is a calling to serve the Navajo Nation. The selected individual will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students, the Navajo community, and Indigenous education.
Applications are due by November 10, 2025. Applicants must submit a letter of application, a current resume, and a list of eight professional references.
