Diné College Window Rock Center Serves Up Warm Soup and Frybread to Surrounding Communities
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz., Jan. 30, 2026—The Diné College Window Rock Center brought together staff, faculty, and volunteers to help serve warm soup and frybread to Diné relatives and those in need. An act rooted in the institution’s philosophy and values of K’é, Nitsáhákees (Thinking), Nahat’á (Planning), Iiná (Living), and Siihasin (Assuring), ensuring the well-being of local communities is not left behind.
Amberia Tolino, the Office Coordinator for the Window Rock Center, stepped in to co-coordinate the event with the help of Window Rock Center staff and family, and monetary donations from external campuses.
An event proven successful by the turnout of helping hands and a line of hungry neighbors. Participants dished out five pots of stew and served over 100 bowls of pozole, beans, vegetable stew, and chicken noodle soup, along with frybread and beverages.
The team of volunteers also found time to deliver meals to unsheltered communities unequipped to make it to the Window Rock Center.
When asked about the impact of today’s event, Corrina Bainbridge, the Window Rock Center Academic Success Coach and event co-coordinator, stated, “Providing a hot meal is a very positive gesture for our community, reminding them that they are not alone, and are also valued members of the Diné College community—whether they are students, staff, faculty, or community members from all over the reservation.”
