Dine College Student places design in the upcoming 2024-25 Catalog
3rd April 2024
TSAILE, AZ – Diné College is proud to announce the selection of Karl Pino’s Artwork for the cover of the upcoming 2024-2025 Academic Catalog. Pino, who’s pursuing dual majors in Fine Arts and Health Occupations, has showcased his talent and vision through his design, inspired by the natural beauty and cultural significance of the cornstalk situated outside the college library.
Initially created as a class project, Pino’s design was only fully utilized once he submitted it to the college’s catalog cover competition. “It was a piece that represented the college, drawing inspiration from a cornstalk outside the library,” Pina explains. The selection of his Artwork for the catalog cover came as a surprise and an honor to him, highlighting his unexpected journey into the realm of graphic design.
Pino’s venture into graphic design began during the COVID-19 pandemic when online classes limited his course options. Embracing the challenge, he explored digital design, finding inspiration in the prevalence of digital art on social media. Despite initially pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Pino’s interest in graphic design exemplifies his adaptability and eagerness to expand his artistic repertoire.
Originally from Ramah, New Mexico, and currently residing in Lukachukai, Ariz., Pino’s selection for the catalog cover not only celebrates his artistic achievements but also symbolizes the college’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing the talents of its diverse student body.
Diné College congratulates Karl Pino on his achievement and looks forward to the continued success of all its students in their academic and creative endeavors.
